Článek je věnován problematice meningokokových onemocnění se zaměřením na invazivní průběhy - meningokokovou meningitidu a sepsi. Pozornost je věnována epidemiologické situaci v České republice, způsobu přenosu onemocnění, léčbě a možné prevenci. V závěru je uvedena kazuistika mladého muže s meningokokovou sepsí, která zanechala trvalé následky.
