Is sudden death in young athletes preventable

Sudden death in young athletes evoke fear in careful parents for their offspring´s life. They demand paediatric cardiology evaluation to eliminate

risk of death during physical activity. A case of young female athlete is presented in the article. Well timed correct diagnosis of hypertrophic

cardiomyopathy prevented a possible catastrophe. Other cases of sports fatalities and opportunities for their screening are discussed.
