The term myocardial hypertophy encompasses a wide range of pathologies. Most diseases in this group are serious, affecting the child's hemodynamics and clinical condition. However, there are also idiopathic or transient hypertrophies with good prognosis. This case report presents a transient myocardial hypertrophy in a newborn, probably caused by the premature arterial duct closure arising due to the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs by the mother in the third trimester of cryptic pregnancy. The authors present an approach to the differential diagnosis of the myocardial hypertrophy in neonates and infants.

Keywords: cryptic pregnancy, hypertrophy, cardiomyopathy, ductus arteriosus.
