Eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases are chronic, immune-mediated disorders characterized clinically by gastrointestinal symptoms and histologically by a pathologic increase in eosinophil-predominant inflammation in specific regions of the GI tract, in the absence of secondary causes of eosinophilia.
