Lymphedema is a serious, worsening, often long-life disease, which influences all dimensions of the quality of life of our patients. The manifestation of the lymphedema in the childhood is a real therapeutic and social problem. The complex decongestive therapy is an essential part of the therapy. In earl childhood is impossible to expect an active co-operation of our patients, the daily care of the parents is necessary. Later, the co-operation with the children could gradually incerase in the programme of daily treatment of this chronic disease.

Article summarises experiences and rules for an interpretation of serological inverstigations. Laboratory methods are briefly mentioned and the most common reason for false positive and false negative results are analysed. Special attention is paid to groups of newborns and pregnant women including intepretations pitfalls of these investigation’s results. Typical situations in use of serologic diagnosis of infection diseases are brought out at the end.

Flat foot in childhood is one of the most common diagnoses, which are the reasons for referrals to orthopaedic ambulances. In absolutely majority of cases it is idiopathic flat foot based on increased laxicity of ligamentous apparatus of the foot. Basic criterion for mostly conservative management is individually created insole (however it is not the only way of conservative treatment) according to a casting is an assessment, whether the foot is compensated and functionally competent. Physical abuse is the main cause of injuries in infants. Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) is the most often form of child abuse until 2 years of the age. The authors point out the necessity to distinguish the non-traumatic head injury caused by shaking and traumatic head injury, which is rare in infants. The present of non-specific signs of child head injury can be the first symptom of SBS and so in this case it is important to search for specific symptoms and to confirm or exclude SBS. The authors present the clinical, pathological and diagnostic signs caused by shaking. They try to mention the bad prognosis of these children and the importance of prevention.
