Celiac disease is a lifelong, immune-mediated, inflammatory disease of the small intestine, induced by gluten consumption in genetically predisposed individuals, characterized by the development of malabsorption syndrome. The authors present a case report of three siblings diagnosed with celiac disease. A positive family history and genetic predisposition to celiac disease as one of the strongest risk factors for disease development are discussed.

Keywords: celiac disease, family history, genetic predisposition.
