Příznaky nefrolitiázy u dětí nejsou tak typické jako u dospělých. Kojenci často reagují na odchod konkrementu neklidem, odmítáním potravy. Malé děti udávají bolest bříąka bez přesné lokalizace, vegetativní symptomatologie můľe být různého charakteru a stupně. Jen starąí děti dovedou popsat renální koliku. Diagnóza nefrolitiázy v dětském věku, zvláątě u kojenců a menąích dětí, je proto mnohem obtíľnějąí neľ u dospělých. Je tedy nutné, aby lékař při vyąetření malých dětí s neurčitými bolestmi břicha, neklidem nebo náhle vzniklými dysuriemi pomýąlel i na moľnost nefrolitiázy.
