Pigment Nevi in Childhood

Nevi are local developmental anomalies most frequently of hamartogenic origin, district of tissue that didn’t join the harmony of normal skin structure. They may exist from childbirth or develop anytime later, maybe isolated in forms of small spots, papules, lumps and lesions of different shape and even in forms of longitudinal stripes. Sometimes they occur obviously unilaterally and may resemble e.g. herpes zoster. The boundary between individual nevi and between nevi and benign tumors is not sharp. The differentiation is frequently very difficult. Nevi are usually divided to melanocytic and non-melanocytic. The purpose of the article is to get acquainted with them. In case of any diagnostic uncertainty it’s possible to consult dermatology with pediatric specialization or comities for pigment lesions located at university hospital.
