Má snad dětský lékař souhlasit s eutanazií?

Světová lékařská asociace (WMA) eutanazii definuje jako záměr ukončit život a vědomé a úmyslné provedení tohoto činu; subjektem je kompetentní informovaná osoba s nevyléčitelnou chorobou, která dobrovolně o ukončení požádala. I holandský model se přidržuje této definice (úmysl zabít, zabití a vlastní žádost nemocného). WMA však opakovaně potvrzuje své pevné přesvědčení, že eutanazie je v konfliktu se základními etickými principy lékařské praxe, a to i tehdy, pokud by ji národní zákon povolil anebo za určitých podmínek dekriminalizoval. V dnešní době je nesmírně důležité používat slovo eutanazie jen v takto vymezeném smyslu. Jinak totiž dochází k neskutečnému matení.
